What is Low-code?

Low-code tools combine visual building with the option to add small amounts of code for custom logic or integrations.

Low-code, explained

Low-code sits between no-code and full software development. It gives teams the speed of visual tools while allowing developers or technically minded staff to handle edge cases with scripts. Platforms such as n8n are often used in a low-code way. Low-code is a good fit when processes are slightly too complex for pure no-code but do not justify a fully custom application.

Example

An automation team uses a low-code platform to build a lead workflow and adds a short script to clean phone numbers into international format.
