Large language model (LLM), explained
An LLM predicts the most likely next piece of text based on everything it has seen so far. That simple mechanism, at very large scale, lets it write, summarise, translate, classify and reason about text. LLMs do not look facts up by default; they generate answers from patterns learned in training, which is why they can sound confident while being wrong. Businesses get more reliable results by giving the model clear instructions, relevant source material and a defined output format, and by checking the output.
Example
A marketing team uses an LLM-based assistant to turn a product brief into ten caption options in English and Arabic.
