What is AI governance?
AI governance is the set of policies, roles and processes an organisation uses to decide how AI is chosen, used, monitored and held accountable.

AI governance, explained
Governance answers practical questions: which tools are approved, what data may be used, who checks AI outputs, how risks are assessed, and who is accountable if something goes wrong. For most companies, a short AI usage policy, an approved-tools list, a simple risk review for new use cases and named owners are enough to start. Governance should enable safe use, not block all use; banning AI often pushes staff to use personal tools without oversight.
Example
A trading company publishes a one-page AI policy listing approved assistants, banned data types and a review step for customer-facing content.
