What is Sentiment analysis?
Sentiment analysis is the use of AI to detect the emotional tone of text, such as positive, negative or neutral, and sometimes specific emotions like frustration.

Sentiment analysis, explained
Businesses use sentiment analysis to prioritise unhappy customers, summarise reviews, monitor social media and track feedback trends. Language models handle nuance better than older keyword methods, but sarcasm, mixed messages and dialects can still cause errors. Sentiment works best as a signal that routes attention, for example escalating a frustrated customer to a person, rather than as a precise measurement.
Example
A restaurant group runs sentiment analysis on weekly reviews and sends managers every negative review that mentions service speed.
